Thanksgiving Closure + Steppin' Out November News
We're in full fall season. That means dancers begin to transition from basics to more advanced moves as we build a dance language we'll draw on for spring choreography. Ask your dancers to show you what they've been learning in class, and please read on for plenty of holiday-related news.
THANKSGIVING CLOSURE
The studio will be closed between November 25th and December 1st in observance of Thanksgiving--but don't worry; you have already been pro-rated for missing that week. Please enjoy family time.

MOVEMENT OF THE MONTH: FALL
More than a pun, falling is an essential component of dance (and some say also of walking; falling is just basic weight transfer and that slight suspension between one state and the next). Learning to fall with grace can help your dancers find their centers. Practice this simple exercise: Have your dancers rise up on their toes till they can't get any taller, then lean forward, trying to hold their balance. When they can't hold it anymore, encourage them to take a few quick stutter steps to regain their center. After they've mastered falling forward, try each side--and then try falling back. Falling to music is even more fun.
DANCE IN THE NEWS: TEACHER ANGELA!!!
Have you seen this profile of Angela in Mission Local? We couldn't be more proud. Please check out People We Meet: Keeping Dance Alive.
QUICK TIP: WARM UP
With the weather growing colder, please make sure to have your dancers add a layer as they leave the studio--they'll be safer as they cool down, plus much cozier.
