At Steppin’ Out, our fall semester runs September through January (with registration beginning in August), and our spring semester runs February through May (with registration beginning in January). At the end of the spring semester, all students will have the opportunity to dance onstage in our year end performance. In the spring semester, students can expect to stay in the same class/level they were in in the fall.
Fall Classes
Fall classes will run from September 3, 2024 through January 31, 2025. Classes will not be held on the following dates:
Monday 10/14 Indigenous People's Day
Thursday 10/31 Halloween
Monday 11/11 Veterans Day
11/25-12/1 Fall Recess (Thanksgiving)
12/23-1/5 Winter Break
Monday 1/20 MLK Day
Parents and families will be invited into the studio for two observation days throughout the fall semester. These Observation Weeks will be:
October 24-30
December 15-20
For those of you who are returning students, please note that dancers typically stay in the same level for one to two years, depending on age when entering the level. For example, dancers entering a 3-4 year old "pre-ballet" class at age 3 will stay for two years before moving up a level, while those who enter at age 4 will typically move up after one year.
During registration, students may register for any age-appropriate class, unless the class is marked *placement required. Our intermediate and advanced classes requirement placement permission from Angela. If you are unsure of your placement or you are a new student wondering which level would be best for you, contact Angela before registering.
A note about our beginning and open level classes:
Pre-Tap/Ballet/Tumbling, Creative Movement, and Beginning I Tap/Ballet are open to any student of the appropriate age. You can find many students who are brand new to dance in these classes.
Beginning II Tap/Ballet is typically for students with at least one to two years of previous dance experience.
Beginning III Tap/Ballet is typically for students with at least three-four years of previous dance experience.
“Open Level” indicates that a class will be tailored to challenge all students, including those with years of experience and those who are new to the technique.
